Scholarships Available from the Lakeshore Education Association
The Lakeshore Education Association of teachers is proud to support and encourage educational opportunities here at Lakeshore. LEA members fund a scholarship for students at every building in the district.
High School seniors are invited to apply for a $1000 scholarship towards college. LEA also offers a $150 scholarship to two middle school students and $100 scholarship to a student at each elementary to be used to further their passions through a summer program or lessons.
Application forms are in each school’s office and the deadline is Friday, April 21st for all scholarships.
Clothes Still Needed, Please!
From time to time students borrow clothes from the office. We are in short supply and are taking donations of gently used shirts and pants. Please turn donations into the office! We are in need of the following:
- Girls shirts sz. 5—16
- Girls pants sz 5-10
- Boys shirts sz. 8 & 12-16
- Boys pants sz. 6-12
April 17th Roosevelt Elementary from 6:30 – 7:15 PM
April 18th Hollywood Elementary from 6:30 – 7:15 PM
April 19th Stewart Elementary from 6:30 – 7:15 PM
This is for adults only and for families that currently live in the Lakeshore school district. You may attend any school to register your child. Registration for schools of choice students will take place sometime in the next few weeks.
Students who are five on or before September 1, 2017 are eligible for Kindergarten.
Please bring the following items to registration:
1. legal birth certificate,
2. current immunization record
3. the following forms of proof of residency
a. MI driver’s license or state I.D. with current Lakeshore address
b. current utility bill in the name and address of person enrolling the student (gas, electric, water or cable bill only) – mailing address must match service address
c. current property tax bill or purchase agreement (if closing occurred within the last 6 months) with name and address on it, or rental agreement with name and property address of person enrolling the student.
Register on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 9 A.M. – 6 P.M.
Lakeshore Public Schools is offering a Young Fives play-based program designed for younger students and/or students needing more time to develop academically, socially, and emotionally prior to experiencing a traditional kindergarten program.
The program will provide a pre-kindergarten curriculum through the use of thematic units, Zoo-Phonics, handwriting, math, and other creative literacy activities. Students spend time every day in circle time, reading, writing, math, arts and crafts, and dramatic play as well as participate in music, gym, and art time each week. Young Fives Informational Flyer
Age eligibility: Five years old between June 1 and December 1, 2017, and independent bathroom users (preference will be given to those born between 9/1 – 12/1).
Registration for the 2017-18 school year will take place on Monday, February 6th from 9AM – 6PM at the Central Office, 5771 Cleveland Ave (located behind the tennis courts). See the Lakeshore website for more information: https://lakeshoreschools.k12.mi.us/enrollment.
After February 6th, registrations will continue until classes are full.
