With a strong commitment to student well-being and a proven track record in supporting academic and personal growth, Mr. Thompson brings valuable experience to this role. His collaborative work with colleagues, counselors, and the broader Lakeshore community has been crucial in providing tailored support and resources to students. As Dean of Students, he is committed to continuing this work to ensure all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Lakeshore High School Principal, Jerry Holtgren, said, “Mr. Thompson will bring a student-first approach to his new role as well as the passion and enthusiasm we’ve learned to expect from him. We look forward to him helping our young people learn, grow, and become successful students and adults. His ideas and perspectives will help shape our student services moving forward.” In addition to his new role, Mr. Thompson will continue as the head varsity football coach at Lakeshore High School. Danny Thompson said, “I'm honored to take on the role of Dean of Students, where I can help foster positive change school-wide. Leaving the classroom after 12 years is bittersweet; it's been my home away from home, filled with priceless moments and incredible students. The Third Annual WAVE Awards were held at Lake Michigan College’s Jenkins Theater on Wednesday, May 22. The ceremony honors musical theatre work by high school students and educators throughout Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana. The presentation is loosely designed after Broadway’s famed Tony Awards. The WAVE Awards are meant to recognize, encourage, and promote excellence in high school musical theatre. This year, nominees represent ten high schools in four counties and two states. Lakeshore High School’s production of Newsies was among the nominees for several categories. Lakeshore nominations included Outstanding Set Design (Paul Milligan), Outstanding Choreography (Theresa Graziano), Outstanding Orchestra/Pit (Matt Pagel), Outstanding Featured Ensemble (Newsies of New York), Outstanding Featured Actor (Vivian Rose), Outstanding Lead Actor (Aiden Sokol), Outstanding Direction (Christine Sloan), and Outstanding Musical. The Lakeshore Newsies cast received the award for Outstanding Featured Ensemble. Junior Vivian Rose was awarded Outstanding Featured Actor for her role of Les. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Lakeshore High School for their first-place win at the state competition during the Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society Convention. Their victory comes with the shellback dinghy crafted in Hanns Heil's woodworking class. Remarkably, this is the second year in a row that Heil's class has earned top honors with a boat project!
