Free Summer Meals in Your Community Have hungry kids and teens to feed? It can be a challenge to find healthy meals that fit your budget. All summer, children 18 and under can eat healthy, satisfying meals in their own communities at no cost. No application forms required, no registration needed, and no proof of residency asked for — just show up and enjoy a meal! All meals must be eaten at the site. Visit https://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/schoolnutrition/ to find the location nearest you. You can also text "FOOD" or "COMIDA" to 304-304 to find free meals in your neighborhood. So come pick up a plate and meet your neighbors!

We are regrettably saying goodbye to four retiring High School Teachers: Chuck Jager, 29 years; Brian McKean, 25 years; Kim Landeck, 32 years; and Chad Milletics, 25 years. We offer our deep appreciation to each of them and wish them well.

Our Totzke-Nye Support Staff winners for the year are Cheryl Tomaszewski, Paraprofessional for 25 years, and Leslie Woods, Paraprofessional for five years. They both have gone above and beyond in their duties.

Congratulations to this year's R. James Johnson Distinquished Educator Award Winners: Deanna Chorny, Roosevelt 2nd Grade Teacher, 32 years, and Jim Tetzlaff, 7th Grade Math Teacher, 26 years. We are proud of their unending dedication to LPS!

We love this Lancer tradition of some students bringing their tractors to school on the last day of school! And a somewhat newer tradition of next year's Senior parents decorating cars. Wow, the 2022-2023 is coming to a close. Have a safe and wonderful summer!

Lakeshore Public Schools is excited to announce the hire of Jerald Holtgren as Principal of Lakeshore High School. Jerry comes to Lakeshore from Niles Community Schools where he served as Director and Principal of Niles New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy. In 2022, Mr. Holtgren presented to the Michigan House of Representatives on school culture and safety, and he has led district-level training on Professional Learning Communities and STEM education.
